Eee Pad Transformer Prime Update
As part of our unwavering commitment to our customers, we wish to allay some recent concerns regarding the Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF201.
After extensive checks we can confirm that no units have been supplied to the UK with a known WiFi issue. Any customers experiencing WiFi issues specifically are advised to contact our support hotline on tel. 0870 1208 340.
Any customers who have purchased a Transformer Prime TF201 and are dissatisfied with the performance of the GPS module are advised to return the unit to their point of purchase for a full refund as per standard consumer rights that apply in the UK.
Any customers who wish to keep their unit will be offered an extension to the standard ASUS warranty from 12 to 18 months (for any retailers who offer an additional 12 months’ warranty with their purchase, the total warranty period will remain at 2 years). To extend the warranty, please contact our support hotline on tel. 0870 1208 340.
In relation to the recently-announced TF700 model, this product is unlikely to be available in the UK before June at the earliest and no pricing details have been announced.
ASUS prides itself on delivering an unrivalled user experience, and we offer our sincere apologies for any inconvenience that our customers may have encountered.
Regards,
ASUS UK.

What about the german Customers. I cannot find any official german Statement.

That’s a good news!
What about the users who are facing lockups and reboots randomly on ICS?

Hi,
Does ASUS plan a re-design of the Transformer Prime back-plate to improve GPS performance?

The statement indicates persons whom have already purchased the Transformer Prime… I would have if I could find one to buy! Even accepting that there may be an issue BEFORE I purchase, will the same offer apply moving forwards? i.e, Does this statement in effect say that anyone who buys a Transformer Prime in the UK will be able to call the given number to claim an additional 6 months warranty?
Finally, I seem to spend an inordinate amount of time simply scouring the web and the shops LOOKING for a champagne Prime to purchase – I have been waiting a long time for its release! – There are clearly stock shortages and all shops seem to be waiting for deliveries but they cant tell me when that might be… Are Asus able to tell me when I might expect shops to receive deliveries in the UK (not specific shops – I mean ANY shops as they ALL appear to have the same issue) – and IS the champagne version actually released for purchase in the UK yet or not?
Yours in anticipation…
- Richard Anthony.

“Unlikely to be available in the UK before June at the earliest”
That’s okay then. It means people who preorder from Amazon won’t be able to get hold of one until about October. ¬_¬
Next time can you control retailers making preorder promises they can’t fulfil? Or alternatively, ship them enough stock so that they can meet their commitments?

June? Isn’t that when Amazon expect the TF201s?
Sadly just cancelled my pre-order with them and hope that my TF700 will arrive on time when I eventually pre-order that elsewhere.
Till then, I’ll happily use my original Transformer….

Good to hear some response for the TF201 owners.
Now how about actually releasing the ICS update for the original TF101? Or at least anounce a concrete date for release.
All I see are conflicting release schedules from different branches of ASUS via facebook, none of which seem to able to stick to the same story with release dates ranging from a day after the TF201 update to late Feb/early March.
Don’t know who to believe if anyone. Some consistency would be great.
Xoom got an update, what’s the holdup for the original TF101 owners? After all the president of Asus stated back in Oct there would be an update before end of year (which didn’t happen), I appreciate delays but pushing the release back while promoting the TF201 update seems like marketing tactics to me.
Especially since the ASUS UK listing for the TF101 has had the Ice Cream Sandwich Upgradable comment removed.
If not for the success of the TF101 there would be no TF201 to promote right now, keep that in mind.

Perhaps more importantly – will there be a 3G version of either the TF201 or TF700? It’s literally the only thing holding me back from buying one over an iPad.

Is it safe to say that it was only the initial shipments of Transformer Prime that will have possible wi-fi issues? In other words, the future Prime’s will have these issues fixed before leaving the factory?

How about Canada?
And “if you don’t like it – take it back as you’re allowed to by law in the UK” seems a little lacking in serious customer support (it’s not actually *doing* anything – it’s just complying with the law).
How about updating the TF201 with a replacement back to allow the GPS and WiFi to work better and offering an exchange for current TF201 owners who want it?

My UK Prime has pretty rubbish Wifi, especially when Bluetooth is on. Also GPS is non-existant. Asus UK – are PC World aware of the returns policy? If I take mine back will I have to have a screaming argument with them? I do wish to return my Transformer Prime, but want it to be as painless as possible…

Wow! Thank you! I continuously needed to write on my blog something like that. Can I include a part of your post to my site?

I have been looking forward to get a Transformer Prime, but I got very disappointed when I heard about the WIFI issues. I would like to know what you have done to the UK versions of the TF201 to make them better? Have got any proof that they are actually better than what the US got?

I purchased my Transformer Prime last weekend and I must say I am more than pleased with it at the moment. I upgraded to ICS which seems to have improved speed significantly. Happy Days

kinda liked what you have written . it just is not that easy to discover great stuff to read (you know really READ and not simply going through it like a zombie before going to yet another post to just ignore), so cheers man for really not wasting my time on the god forsaken internet.

I’d like to see the same offer for Canada indeed i have 6 days left to return the unit. Kinda wished i had kept my tf101 and waited this unit was rushed to market and not throughly tested. Its a shame and embarrassment for Asus. Btw where is the root tool at least then some could load a functioning ROM

I finally got my Transformer prime from Ebuyer last week (excellent service and delivered within 24 hrs). As expected, it turned out to be an ultra seek and blazing fast device and the experience till now has been amazingly fluid and butter smooth.
All the problems mentioned in the various internet forums seem to be problems of the past. My ICS upgrade was flawless, the wifi is very stable (the device hasn’t dropped connection even once in 5 days of continuous use) and the GPS works albeit a bit slowly. It seems that Asus has finally done a good job on all the new shipments to UK and all the issues running viral on the web seem to be a thing of the past.
I was due to upgrade my laptop around the same time and wanted to see if this could hit the mark and so far I haven’t gone anywhere near my laptop as this does everything . The built in Splashtop software connects seamlessly to my windows desktop and provides a smooth windows remote desktop experience too which is a bit of a bonus.
All in all the experience has been on a different planet, faster and sleeker and one of unparallel quality. Compared it with my ipad 2 and this is way ahead in terms of features, flexibility and performance. For a change Apple has to do catch up now !!!
If you can find one in stock, then jump on it!

I ordered one of these beauties last week from Amazon, no problem, arrived today. It really is a beautiful design. Th wifi kicked in immediately, and it works really well. I am yet to take it outside but will let you know how I get on. I frankly wasn’t prepared to wait till the summer to get the upgrade.

I ordered one before christmas and clove, the website i ordered from updated that it will ship it in march! this is driving me crazy! i have waited for very long! Are you sure the stock will be enough?
For best availability of Transformer Prime please contact our preferred retailers. Stores/online: PC World, Currys, Comet, John Lewis & Carphone Warehouse. Online only: Amazon.co.uk & Ebuyer.com. We do have significant stock arriving every week but we are still seeing a huge number of pre-orders every week. Thank you.

I have been waiting since the end of December last year. The suppliers ASUS suggest are still out of stock, so little help there. Can ASUS UK give some idea of the amount of stock they are shipping and when ?

Just wanted to say that I’ve had to return my Prime to Amazon this week due to WiFi issues. Would not stay connected to my WiFi at home or either of the two networks we have at work that I have access too. Very disappointed as the Prime seemed very nice to use. Hope the team at ASUS manage to fix the problems and I might be tempted to try another.

When the TF201 was announced it was stated that HMV would stock the Prime. I have lots of vouchers and have checked their site almost daily. Do you have any plans to supply HMV with stock.

Hiya ASUS UK Office, I`m really glad I have found this info. Today bloggers publish only about gossip and net stuff and this is really irritating. A good web site with exciting content, that is what I need. Thanks for making this site, and I`ll be visiting again.

Almost 2 weeks and no update here. Is ASUS a company that has both the technological resources and the commitment to it’s customers to keep them updated or are they hoping that given enough time we’ll forget about this mess?
A few of you have asked for a specific date on the ICS update for TF101. We don’t have an exact date yet but it should be this month. Our engineers are all back from their Chinese New Year celebrations so we will have an up to date schedule shortly. As soon as we do, we’ll let you know on here, so stay tuned!

What will Asus be doing for US customers who bought a tf201 with non working GPS when I ordered mine the specs had GPS… now it has been removed from specs. I would like an upgrade to tf700t that has better GPS and WiFi signal due to plastic window installed. or. A refund so I can buy the tf700t or something I see fit. I hope to get a response soon thanks…

If I can be impertinent, could I ask if the UK shipments for the Gold Prime have reach the likes of PC World yet ? They have had my money since the 16th Dec 2011 and no goods as yet.. becoming a wee bit of a joke! Any news please ?

With a view to buying a Prime I have been watching it’s entrance into the world market with increasing concern; regardless of UK and other stock problems Clove’s pull out coupled with the largely unnoticed withdrawal by John Lewis of the Prime from pre-order indicates serious problems both in terms of pre-release debugging, both alpha and beta testing; however much the new adopter/ enthusiasts praise the undoubted qualities of a quad core working with ICS confidence has been seriously damaged. Asus may currently feel my remarks are a pin prick from a tiny market zone but I suspect unless they very rapidly and transparently address the obvious difficulties they will have done mortal damage to what could be an iPad challenging product and undone the good reputation built by the first Transformer, they also risk reputational cross contamination. An extended 18 month warranty is a silly answer , not worthy of company of Asus’s stature. Mr Key you’ve done what I think you think best but I very much doubt its good enough, you have to play a long game to reliably crack this market and avoid being an also ran; Good Luck!

Hi All,
Just to keep you all up to date on stock of the Eee Pad Transformer Prime – It is still landing weekly and in increasing numbers.
The majority of our resellers have now fulfilled their back orders so more free stock should be available soon.
Please check with your preferred reseller as to how they are allocating their units and how best to get your hands on one!

Hi,
I ordered my Transformer Prime from Amazon last Thursday. I know that you should not have to go through all this trouble to spend 500 pounds, but I just kept a tab open in my browser with the Amazon TP page and hit refresh every now and then.
Suddenly on Thursday I saw it in stock with Amazon as seller with the 500 pounds price tag, ordered it immediately. When I finished ordering, the TP page was saying “only 10 left in stock”. Less than 1hour later, it was already out of stock.
My point is… if you really want it, you can get it. It shows that stock is indeed arriving, I was doing this constant refresh thing only from Tuesday (i.e. in about 48hs I could order mine), but maybe I was just lucky

Something has clearly gone wrong here! i have been waiting since december for god sake and the last update i got from the website i ordered was that stock would come on feb 6th! and all they say is that the delays come from asus! i feel a little stupid for waiting so long! Can we have an actual date ?
